2022 Sherwood Award Winner

Steve Alexander, along with several local coaches, is one of the founders of the West Texas Football Classic and has been involved with the game every year since its inception.  He is originally from Levelland Texas and played football and baseball at Levelland High School.  He holds an associate’s degree from South Plains College and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Texas Tech University.  After graduation from Texas Tech, he started working in the banking industry and is presently an executive vice president of commercial lending at City Bank where he has been employed for the past 19 years.  He plans on retiring from the banking world at the end of this year and moving to Granbury Texas to be closer to family and to be able to spend more time with his grandsons.

Steve has been active in the Lubbock community in many ways, having coached his children in Western Little League, Lubbock Select League Baseball and Lubbock Girls Basketball.  He was an active member of the Coronado Football Booster Club and served as President in 2003. He also has been active in fundraising for United Way for many years and is a member of the Texas Tech Alumni Association and the Red Raider Club.  He is currently on the leadership board for the South Plains chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is also currently on the board of the LISD Athletic Hall of Honor.

Steve has been married to Jan Alexander for 43 years and they have 3 children and all graduated from Coronado High School.  Craig is a graduate of Texas Tech and is a civil engineer residing in Fort Worth Texas. Craig has two sons, Weston who is 5 and Max who is 1.  Eric is a graduate of The University of Texas and South Texas College of Law and currently resides in Scottsdale Arizona where he is a sales representative for Corral Boot Company.  Leigh is a graduate of The University of Texas and Houston College of Optometry and along with her husband Dr. Corey Giammarco, reside in Fort Worth Texas and are both in practice there.
